Hi and welcome to The Heffernan Files.

I am so pleased you’ve visited. I’ve worked as a journalist for almost 20 years and published my first book Our Boomtime Rats – Who do they think they are? in 2013.

I believe in justice, fairness and integrity and my Mission Statement is:

Social recovery is just as important as economic recovery

I may be an idealist but I believe we have to strive for a better society and better fairness for everyone in society.

I want to see our 3-tier society (the haves – the have nots – the spongers) disintegrate and fairness for all to flourish and be the norm.

I look at life from many angles and believe we all need to try alternative avenues to bring about a better way of life for all our citizens. We need new blood and new strategies throughout society and people who are willing to take a stand on issues that affect them.

Bi Anne. Read your article in the Irish Times, well done. Very well stated case about the hidden ageism that exists here – I have suffered same since I retired and you certainly can feel very rejected. Let me know when you are back in Ireland, text me to 0872349718. Tony and I are having our civil marriage in September.

I just read your article in the Irish Times. I’m not a senior or Irish 🙂 but I’ll be going to The Dominican republic and Haiti next year to teach English, so I’ve been searching for articles and blogs about people’s experiences and this article popped up. The ageism you discuss is unfortunate. I’m glad you were able to find something, even if it was volunteering, that utilized your skills.
